Restaurant Marketing Ideas For July

Coming up with new ideas every month to fill your tables, increase your orders and show others the very best of your restaurant, can be difficult.

Most days of the week have associated hashtags (such as #ThirstyThursday) where you can create content that works with these ideas and leverage additional interest from an already engaged audience.

But you can take your restaurant marketing strategy a step further by looking at Awareness Days, National and International Event Days and Themed Months, and applying the relevant ones to your marketing campaigns.

It’s very important that you only work with what is relevant to your brand. It doesn’t have to be a specific fit – but there still needs to be a logical reason why you’re getting involved. If you try to involve yourself in everything, even unrelated concepts – you’ll only damage your brand by coming across as uncaring, money-grubbing, opportunistic or confrontational.

For example – If you’re running a vegan venue and decided to use National Fried Chicken Day to protest the use of meat in cooking, you’re not going to be connecting with an audience who are looking for animal rights – you’re post will be seen by people looking for meat, who will then assume that your restaurant is either confrontational, uneducated or somewhere they don’t want to deal with.

To help you with your marketing for the month ahead, we’ve put together a comprehensive list of events and awareness days that you might want to consider making part of your restaurant’s social media strategy, and marketing events in July.

Please Note: Some of the entries on this list are National days for the UK, America, etc. But with Social Media connecting the world, there’s really no harm in celebrating these days even when you’re not a resident of the hosting Nation.

Our Advice on Putting These Event Days and Marketing Dates to Use for Your Establishment:

You may have noticed that a some of the events on this list don’t relate directly to food, and you may be wondering why they’re there.

When you’re planning your digital marketing strategy for your restaurant, you need to consider that as long as you have a relevant reason for getting involved in an event, then you’re perfectly placed to use the date in your strategy.

For example:

If you own a food truck that may not be the most up to date or visually appealing, by getting involved with Ugly Truck day you can create content that encourages people to look out for your vehicle (take photos and share content when they see it) and inspire more people to be actively looking for your brand.

Or perhaps you may have a café with a small selection of books and magazines available. By celebrating Paperback Book day, you could promote that you offer comfortable places to read whilst enjoying delicious food and drink.

As long as there is a relevant and logical connection, and it benefits your business, then it’s worth marking the date down in your diary.

When you’re choosing where and how to market your restaurant brand, you need to keep a few things in mind:

  • Is it consistent with your Brand Vision and Values?
  • Can you promote this in your own Brand Voice?
  • Does associating with this event make logical sense for your restaurant?
  • Does this event help highlight something about your restaurant? (Menu or Venue)
  • Do you understand what the event is about, who it’s aimed at and what it’s for?
  • Are there any scandals or negative connotations related to the event that might damage your brand?
  • Will your customers enjoy seeing your involvement?

It’s very important that you ask yourself these questions and assess the answers before going ahead with your marketing strategy. If you are certain that your business will be enhanced, improved and / or seen in a positive light because of your interaction – then you should go ahead and start creating some relevant content!
